Plans have been drawn up on how an iconic Manchester venue that has stood empty and decaying for decades could be saved. Music halls once dominated entertainment in the early part of the 20th century.
One such venue was Hulme Hippodrome - originally known as the Grand Junction Theatre and Floral Hall - which opened in 1901.
In its heyday, audiences would pack out the grand venue to watch acts like Harry Houdini, Desmond Dekker, Gracie Fields, Shirley Bassey and Morecambe and Wise.
When Houdini appeared in February 1909, he accepted a challenge to escape from a straitjacket made by a local saddler.
