An inquest has opened into the death of a three-month-old baby boy in Stockport. Oakley Shay-King died at his family's home address in Brinnington on January 28 this year.

Oakley was born on October 22 last year in Stockport and was the child of 30-year-old housewife Shannon Patricia King, Police Coroner's Officer Claire Smith said.

The hearing at South Manchester Coroner's Court in Stockport was told it was a "sudden unexpected death in the context of co-sleeping", Senior Coroner Alison Mutch said. I am formally opening the inquest today" Ms Mutch said. A pre-inquest review date was fixed for next month with a date for the full inquest to be fixed at a later date, Ms Mutch said, before adjourning the hearing.
