Subsequent owners included Charles McIntosh in 1818, the waterproof fabric inventor best known for the McIntosh raincoat. It was also used as a children’s home and a further education centre.Crossbasket Castle opened its doors in May 2016, having been restored from the brink of ruin into one of Scotland’s most luxurious hotel and events venues by owners Steve and Alison Timoney.In May 2023, ICMI announced its extended management agreement with Crossbasket
