Hibs loan star admits season at Airdrie is huge as he targets new Easter Road deal

Loan star Murray Aiken admits it’s a big season as he looks to follow in the footsteps of Kanayo Megwa by using Airdrie as a springboard to a new contract at Hibs.The Hibees youngster is back at New Broomfield this season for a second stint after seeing last term’s loan move curtailed by a broken ankle.And he now has his first professional goal under his belt after netting a late equaliser in Saturday’s dramatic draw at Hamilton Accies, which saw the Diamonds come back from 2-0 down to draw in the final 10 minutes.Last term, 20-year-old Aiken watched fellow capital loanee Megwa set the heather on fire in the Championship with his displays at right-back, leading to a new deal with the Edinburgh outfit this summer.So he is determined to replicate the Englishman’s success by playing a starring role for Airdrie, with his Hibs contract set to expire at the end of this season.Aiken said: “Coming back here is great.

I know the manager, I know the boys and I just want to get back to that stage where I was flying last season.
