A man profited from the exploitation of a vulnerable woman to the tune of more than £100,000. Jean Marinel Mihai controlled the woman, who was 'put to work' on the streets of Manchester after he trafficked her into the country from Romania.
The woman said around ten men would often pay for sex with her over the course of a day. Mihai admitted human trafficking and forcing her to work as a sex worker.
But he disputed the amount of money he actually received from her. At first, Mihai claimed he pocketed just £1,100. During a trial of issue held at Manchester Crown Court, he admitted the figure could have been as much as £40,000, but that he did not keep a record.
A judge said Mihai was 'not an honest or reliable witness'.
