Hashem Abedi will be sentenced next month despite all new trials being cancelled amid the coronavirus crisis

The brother of the Manchester Arena suicide bomber will be sentenced for his role in the mass murder next month despite the coronavirus pandemic bringing the justice system to a standstill.

Hashem Abedi, who helped his sibling prepare for the attack, will be sentenced on April 23rd and 24th at the Old Bailey in London even though the rest of the criminal justice system has slowed to a crawl because of the outbreak.

Last week a jury convicted him of 22 counts of murder, one count of attempted murder concerning the hundreds who were injured but survived, and conspiring with his brother to cause an explosion.

He was 2,000 miles away in Libya when his brother detonated an improvised explosive device in his backpack as concert-goers were leaving
