A useful energy calculator may help householders save hundreds on their electricity and gas bills amid the energy price cap rise.

Consumers have been dealt another blow this week following the news that the energy price cap will rise to £2,800 in October.

Jonathan Brearley, Ofgem chief, told MPs that the price cap would rise by almost £1,000 later this year because of the volatile gas market.
