A sneaky NHS worker stole laptops that belonged to the health board and sold them on auction sites because his girlfriend was making him pay all the bills.

Scoundrel Stefan McLean stole four laptops from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde between July 2019 and January 2020, while he was working for the health board as a support team manager.

McLean then sold the laptops, valued at over £1,300 on auction sites and pocketed the cash to pay for things he claims his girlfriend was making him pay for.The 31-year-old first stole a laptop that was to be disposed of as he simply thought it “wouldn’t be missed,” and this led him on a slippery path as he then went on to steal spare laptops and justified his actions because they were “surplus to requirements.” Procurator fiscal depute Mr Warner told Paisley Sheriff Court the laptops were valued at £1,336.

Mr Warner explained: “The accused was employed by the health board as a support team manager and had access to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde IT equipment.Renfrewshire Live, the new free app dedicated to bringing you around the clock breaking news, is now available to download.Powered by the Paisley Daily Express, Renfrewshire Live is your go-to source for news, features and sport with live coverage provided direct to the app, seven days a week. The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages. There is also a dedicated St Mirren section that will follow every kick of the ball with the Buddies.
