Gwyneth Paltrow’s high-profile US lawsuit helped “humanise celebrities” to jury members, the foreman in the case has said. Last week the Oscar-winning actress won the civil lawsuit, brought by retired optometrist Terry Sanderson, over a ski collision in 2016. Ms Paltrow was cleared of all fault over the incident, which occurred at the Deer Valley resort in Utah, which left Mr Sanderson with several broken ribs and head injuries.

Pras Michel, a former member of the multiplatinum, iconic rap trio Fugees, is facing a litany of federal campaign finance charges. The songwriter and rapper is accused of acting on behalf of Jho Low, a Malaysian businessman and fugitive accused of embezzling billions of dollars from his home country's government. Michel has pled guilty to all charges, and his trial began on Monday (April 3) with Leonardo DiCaprio taking the stand for the prosecution.

AMC Theatres has reached a settlement on a shareholder lawsuit that sought to block a reverse stock split, clearing the way to convert the company’s preferred “APE” shares to common shares in an effort to boost capital. In an SEC filing published Monday, AMC says that it will issue 6.9 million shares, or 4.4% of the company’s stock, to the plaintiff shareholders in exchange for the lawsuit being dropped.

The “Little Sky” pilot is the only one planned at present. Nevertheless, the fact that Netflix is willing to order a pilot is significant. The streamer has heavily influenced broadcast networks and other outlets in recent years into using a script-to-series model and mini rooms, the latter of which are a sticking point in the current WGA negotiations. To that point, the number of pilots ordered at the major broadcast networks during the current traditional pilot season has reached an all-time low, with just 14 pilots ordered to date.
