Gregg Wallace quits BBC show and insists that he 'didn't mean to cause offence'

Gregg Wallace has spoken out at claims he allegedly offended female staff members after he quit BBC's Inside the Factory, it has been reported.

The MasterChef star decided to step back from his role earlier this year so he could look after his young son.Gregg revealed that he had to leave the show after seven years so that he could look after Sid, who has autism.

But insiders say Gregg allegedly offended female staff members ahead of his exit. Gregg has now said that he is “appalled” at the offence caused.

An insider told The Times: “He was rude towards staff and continued to talk in a derogatory manner, especially to women. He was given a talking-to and was appalled that he had caused such offence. "He felt that he was just trying to be friendly, but no longer knew what the right thing to say was any more and decided to leave.” A source said: “He comes in cracking jokes, but is from a very different world to our workers.” Speaking to The Times in June, Gregg said: “I’ve enjoyed doing [Inside the Factory] for a number of years and I’ve done hundreds of factories.
