A community pub in the heart of Stockport has been named as the best pub in the North West by a prestigious group of aficionados.

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) group has today (August 21) unveiled the list of winners for its Pub of the Year competition, which recognises the 'crème de la crème' of pubs across the country for their good vibe and equally-as-good choice of beers.

Each year, the list is unveiled after venues have been intricately scored on their atmosphere, as well as their welcome, service, inclusivity, overall impression and selection of live beer, real cider and perry.
