John Stones wants to follow in Harry Kane's footsteps and earn 100 caps for England, after admitting his pride at going level with former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand in appearances for the Three Lions.

Stones turned 30 at the end of last season and has two years left on his Manchester City contract. Some players opt to call time on their international careers as they get older, but it appears Stones is only focused on reaching a ton of caps for his country.

His two outings this month took him to 81 England caps - level with Ferdinand and ex-Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson - and he has now declared his ambitions for at least 19 more.

If he stays fit, he could reach that landmark during the 2026 World Cup, around his 32nd birthday.
