GMP car bursts into flames while officers on patrol
manchestereveningnews.co.ukA Greater Manchester Police car burst into flames while officers were on patrol. Firefighters descended on Reddish, Stockport, at around 7pm last night (December 8) after a Ford Focus in GMP livery set on fire.
It's understood officers from a neighbouring district were carrying out routine enquiries in the area when the drama unfolded.
Witness Adam Howard told the Manchester Evening News: "A copper got out, knocked on someone's door. "He heard a bang, turned round, car in flames." The fire happened outside a house on Lindfield Road, near the junction with Betley Road. Images from the scene show bright orange flames emerging from the Ford's bonnet. Plumes of smoke were also seen a fire crew got the blaze under control.
