Former Hibs and Kilmarnock striker joins Motherwell on loan from Barnsley, as Steelmen ease striking crisis

Motherwell have eased their striking crisis by completing the loan signing of former Hibernian and Kilmarnock striker Oli Shaw.The Steelmen are currently without three of their main strikers with Conor Wilkinson, Jon Obika and Mika Biereth all ruled out through injury, ranging from a matter of weeks in Wilkinson's case to three months for Mika Biereth and four months for Obika.Theo Bair and Joe Efford were the only first-team forwards at the club, but Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell has moved to bring in Shaw - who played under his at Ross County - ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline to bolster his options.The 25-year-old has signed on loan until the end of the season and could make his debut in Sunday's Premiership clash away to Hearts.Kettlewell told the club website: “With the injuries we have had to deal with in the forward areas, it was evidently clear we needed to strengthen before the window shut.“We identified Oli as a target earlier in the window and feel now is the correct time to get him on board.“I know him personally and know his attitude towards the game.

He wants to impress from the off and get regular minutes under his belt.
