Grand Designs is a quarter of a century old and in that time viewers have seen homes built from shipping containers to a cottage hewn into the rocks and a lighthouse-style mansion perched on a clifftop.Fans of the Channel 4 series have avidly watched monster builds, and all the ups and downs they entail with presenter Kevin McCloud running the rule over the finished products.
But he said despite the trend for bigger houses, his favourites are sometimes the ones that are the simplest in terms of the design.
The 65 year old said: "My favourite ones are always the most intriguing, difficult, the longest, the ones that are complex in terms of how they’re brought into being, but sometimes the simplest in design.
I can’t deny sometimes the projects are a bit nuts but that is part of the lure." Join the Daily Record' s WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages.
