Only a tiny fraction of Scottish football fans believe that VAR has improved Premiership action, a scathing new survey claims.

And a majority now say it is time the SFA scrapped video technology altogether. The scornful views of fans come on the back of a string of high-profile replay controversies that have thrust the use of VAR back in to the spotlight.

SFA bosses have been keen to back their TV officials and recently released the findings of an independent review panel set up to mark the success rate of referee calls. It found that whistlers made just three mistakes from more than 400 VAR checks carried out in the first part of the season up to the Viaplay Cup semi-finals, with 99.3 per cent of VAR decisions ruled to be correct.
