Erik ten Hag insists there is no issue between him and Manchester United defender Raphael Varane amid the centre-half's curious lack of playing time.
Varane has started in only one of United's last seven games and Ten Hag selected the 35-year-old Jonny Evans over Varane against Sheffield United, Manchester City, Fulham and Copenhagen.
Evans' 15th-minute withdrawal in the Champions League defeat in Denmark led to an early entrance for Varane, who was panicky with the ball in an unconvincing performance.
Ten Hag spoke glowingly about Varane throughout last season and the 30-year-old formed a rock-steady axis with Lisandro Martinez in what was widely regarded as United's best central defensive partnership since Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
