The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is encouraging individuals with a common age-related eye condition to apply for additional financial support.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) has been added to the DWP's list of conditions that qualify for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Attendance Allowance.

PIP is a benefit designed to assist with extra living costs for those with long-term physical or mental health conditions or disabilities, and who have difficulty performing certain daily tasks or moving around due to their condition.

PIP can be claimed regardless of whether you are working, have savings, or are receiving most other benefits. Once you reach State Pension age, PIP is replaced by Attendance Allowance.
