Desperate Scots couple who lost jobs in pandemic say IVF dreams could be dashed because they can't afford transport to clinic

family say their IVF dreams could be dashed because they can't afford transport to the fertility clinic. Mairi and Jamie Purdie have been selected for IVF on the NHS after a two year wait.

However, the Bathgate couple say the £30-a-day travel costs to get through to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary are crippling them, after they both lost their jobs due to the pandemic.

The couple has set up a GoFundMe page in the hopes of raising £200 to cover travel costs to their final appointments, and keep their dreams alive.

Mairi, 25, told the Daily Record : "We can't give this chance at IVF up, it might be the only one we get. Some weeks we are at the hospital three times a week and we just can't afford it after we both lost our jobs because of Covid.
