David Beckham has told the Glazers to make a decision about the takeover process at Manchester United so stability can be restored, allowing the club to return to being one of the best teams in the world.

Beckham - who had an autobiographical documentary released this week - admitted he had a preference as to who should take over the club but refused to reveal whether it was Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani - whose £5billion bid remains on the table - or Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Beckham backs Erik ten Hag despite the manager’s poor start to the season, which has been lightened by Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League win over Brentford.

The 48-year-old believes the takeover saga is not helping matters and has called for clarity from the current owners.
