Greater Manchester Police has solved nearly 50 per cent more crimes in the last year compared to three years ago, according to new figures.

The force said they have 'driven down' crimes such as burglary, violent crime, and theft, while arrests have increased. Recently Home Office crime figures for 2023 also show GMP have solved double the amount of rape offences than during the previous year, and increased domestic abuse arrests by 90 per cent.

The force said their performance is 'ahead of the national trend' and is 'rapidly improving' after a 'back to basics' approach to policing.

It comes after they were placed into 'special measures' between 2020 and 2022.
