A 'danger to life' alert is in place across Greater Manchester amid a yellow thunderstorm weather warning. The Met Office issued the alert across the region and much of the north of England on Monday (May 6).
The yellow weather warning is in place from 1pm until 9pm, with forecasters predicting the heavy rainfall 'may cause flooding and travel disruption' throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
The downpours are also likely to cause difficult driving conditions and 'sudden flooding' that may lead to some road closures, possible cancellations to public transport services and 'a small chance of fast flowing or deep flood water causing danger to life', the Met Office stated. Showers are then expected through the afternoon, though they are expected to be on-and-off with a mix of cloudy weather also forecast.
