Dad thanks football fans and medics for saving son's life after match collapse

The dad of a football fan who collapsed in the stands during a match last night has thanked supporters and the emergency services for saving his life.

Jason Moseley spoke out after his son took unwell as he watched Scotland star John McGinn's Aston Villa in a Europa Conference League clash with Olympiacos.Some Villa fans were asked to leave the area to allow medics to perform treatment at half-time in the match, which took place at Villa Park in Birmingham.

It emerged later that emergency crews were dealing with the fan amid fears he had suffered a cardiac arrest.Birmingham Live reports that, taking to X, formerly Twitter, Jason posted: "Thank you for your thoughts, it was my son that collapsed.

He is in hospital but sitting up and well waiting tests. Thank you to the amazing staff and supporters and emergency services who saved his life."A fan at the game told Birmingham Live there was "loads of police" and an ambulance was brought pitchside.
