A dad was unmasked as a 'commercial scale' EncroChat drug dealer known as Tamegun after police intercepted his Strava data. Shaun McInerney, 46, orchestrated a narcotics enterprise, dealing in cocaine, cannabis, and ketamine on the encrypted communication network from January to June 2020, Liverpool Crown Court heard.
The 46-year-old used Encrochat to engage in substantial drug transactions with other dealers who went by monikers such as Mr Kipling, Mr Sniff, Trustpilot, among others - but his illicit activities came to light when French authorities managed to penetrate the encrypted communication network, a platform notorious for its use by criminal syndicates, reports the Liverpool Echo. At court, McInerney admitted to three counts of conspiracy to supply substantial quantities of drugs: 4.5kg of cocaine, 14kg of cannabis, and 10kg of ketamine.
McInerney was apprehended at his home on February 13, 2024, during Operation Venetic, which targets EncroChat-associated offenders.
