Coronation Street icon looks unrecognisable two decades after brutal cobbles murder

However, she has recently been making a return to acting.Her role as the pretty, curly blonde-haired Maxine, who had romances with characters like Curly Watts, Des Barnes, Andy McDonald and Tony Horrocks, is probably her most notable professional role to date.
She married loveable butcher Ashley Peacock, portrayed by Steven Arnold, but met a tragic end when she was murdered by serial killer Richard Hillman.The TV villain had intended to kill Emily Bishop and broke into Ashley and Maxine's house on a night when Emily was babysitting Joshua.Richard had planned to stage the elderly woman's death as a burglary gone wrong, but his plan was foiled when Maxine unexpectedly returned home early and witnessed Richard striking Emily with a crowbar.
In a panic, she attempted to flee upstairs, but Richard ended her life by repeatedly hitting her with the crowbar. During her stint on Corrie, the actress also became a favourite in lad magazines and won the Rear of the Year award in 1996.
