CORONATION Street fans are divided after harrowing racism scenes as Max Turner's controversial radicalisation storyline continues.

Viewers were left unsettled after refugee Daryan was attacked in Monday's episode of the ITV soap. A masked gang of racist thugs, led by Griff, bullied him because of his nationality outside Speed Dhal. “What do you want?

I don’t have money,” Daryan told them as he began to panic. The vile thugs replied: “What is he saying? Speak English mate. Can anyone translate?” As Daryan tried to leave he was brutally punched in the face and had racist abuse shouted at him by the group. “Go back to Pakistan mate, you don’t belong here,” said Griff.

Daryan tried to run but a masked Spider tripped him up and he fell onto the cobbles. Picking himself up, he struggled to rush away while the racist thugs made monkey noises.
