Premier League clubs have voted in favour of reforming the Under-21s league with the introduction of an expanded one-tier format without any promotion or relegation.
It comes after a season-long review following concerns that the current games programme was not best preparing players for the step-up to senior football.
At the moment, Category One clubs compete across two divisions in the Premier League, with 14 teams in the top-tier and 11 teams in the bottom-tier.
The decision to introduce the 'Swiss model' was voted through by shareholders at the Premier League Annual General Meeting last week.
