She complemented Coleen on her “dignity and pride” during the much-publicised split.The shock separation of the couple was announced in May, a spokesperson confirming that after 14 years of marriage, they had started divorce proceedings.
Ruth has kept quiet regarding their break-up, and following Eamonn’s move on with alleged new partner Katie Alexander, the 64-year-old has channelled her energy into her work and career engagements.
Coleen, discussing her colleague four months into the separation, revealed that: "Ruth and I keep in touch all the time. She's back at work now, which is great because I really missed her." As for Ruth's handling of the matter, Coleen didn’t want to go into details, but clearly admired friend: "I don't want to say too much because it's not my business to say Ruth's life, but what I will say from a friend's point of view is, I've never met anyone that has handled something with so much dignity and pride." She added: "She's just such a lady, more of a lady then I'll ever be, I would've spilled my guts right now - as I do, that's my problem, I say too much.
