Charles 'disappointed' Meghan won't be at Coronation but 'happy' Harry is coming
ok.co.ukAfter the dramatic statement announced by Buckingham Palace on Wednesday regarding Harry and Meghan’s attendance at the coronation, King Charles is said to be “very disappointed” that he won't be seeing Meghan or his grandchildren, but is “happy” that his son Harry will be there.
Prince Harry, 38, will be travelling to the UK from his home in California where his wife Meghan, 41, will remain with son Archie, 3, and one year old daughter Lilibet.
Harry and Meghan’s son Archie will be celebrating his fourth birthday on the same day as the King's coronation on May 6. Buckingham Palace stated: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.” Royal experts have described the decision as an “ideal compromise”, however others have described the news as a “snub” after King Charles walked Meghan down the aisle on her wedding day.
Royal commentator, Jennie Bond, told OK! that it is a “shame” King Charles wont be given the opportunity to see his grandchildren. "I realise Charles will be very, very busy over the coronation period. "But it's still a shame that he won't be given this opportunity to see his grandchildren, because that might have been a very, very lovely treat for him." Jennie continued and said the outcome was “always the best compromise”. "Now that we know that he's coming, I'm very glad that he is coming to what is probably the most important day in his father's life - it would have been churlish not to do so.
