A British charity had serious failings which contributed to the fate of murdered Eccles aid worker, Alan Henning, a government report has concluded.

The trustees of the humanitarian aid charity failed to take account of cash taken to Syria and were responsible for misconduct and mismangement, the charity regulator has found.

Mr Henning was kidnapped and later beheaded by ISIS after being snatched when crossing the border from Turkey into Syria with an aid convoy.

A taxicab driver in his home town, Mr Henning was killed by a group of British IS fighters, dubbed The Beatles. He had volunteered for the UK charity, Al-Fatiha Global.
