Helen George has promised Call The Midwife fans "a quick weep" in the show's emotional Christmas Day special this year. Cosy drama Call The Midwife traditionally airs a festive special on Christmas Day on BBC One, and Helen confirmed it would be back in its usual schedule slot when she stopped in to Friday's Lorraine show. The actress, who plays Trixie Franklin in the period drama about midwives and nuns in London's East End, told show host Ranvir Singh that fans could expect the episode to pull on the heart strings again this Christmas.

Confirming the episode had already been filmed, Helen, 39, said: "We filmed it June, in the hot weather. "It's just a lovely, lovely festive feast.

It's a great series coming forward. There's some wonderful writing as ever by Heidi (Thomas). "It's a really fun Christmas special but with those beautiful emotive moments that you expect, to have a quick weep on Christmas Day." Helen, who confirmed the new full series was already filming, also laughed over a visit to the Call The Midwife museum where she was mistaken for a member of staff by a fan - having recently said that she thought the fan assumed she was a Trixie impersonator.

The museum gives fans a peek behind the scenes for loyal viewers of the show, but despite Helen being one of its most recognisable stars, one fan did not realise who she was when she turned up in costume to film there.
