Shoppers were heading in their thousands to the Trafford Centre on Friday, in scenes described as "busier than Christmas" around the huge car parks.
Digital signs stating "All car parks FULL" were placed around the perimeter of the Trafford Centre on Friday afternoon with queues of cars seen along the entrance and exit roads.
Winter sales are now live in all stores after seasonal closures over Christmas. The Trafford Centre opened on Boxing Day this year, with huge queues forming outside shops for a busy opening day of the traditional winter sales with huge discounts in stores.
However some big name retailers chose to stay closed and give staff the day off on Boxing Day. That included M&S, Next and John Lewis, who started their winter sales in stores on Wednesday, December 27 instead.
