BRITBOX have slapped a Doctor Who series with an offensive content warning for "yellow face" and racial slurs. The new streaming service was previously criticised for hosting the controversial episodes, which were released as a six-part series of the sci-fi programme in 1977 - when Tom Baker played the Doctor.

Called The Talons of Weng-Chiang, the series starred white actor John Bennett - who dressed up as a Chinese magician called Li H'Sen Chang.

Bennett wore make-up for the role to make him look Chinese, and he also put on an accent. The episodes included racial slurs - with comments mentioning Chinese people's "yellow faces" and calling them "inscrutable chinks".
