Boots issues urgent recall of kids product over fears it could cause sickness

Boots has issued an urgent recall of vitamin gummies for kids over fears they could cause allergic reactions.The high street pharmacist is pulling its own-brand Kids Daily Health Multivitamins Strawberry Flavour Gummies due to the packs being mistakenly packed with ones that contain soya.It means that they are not suitable for any child who has a soya allergy.

Symptoms of allergic reaction can include vomiting, stomach cramps, indigestion, diarrhoea and, in severe cases, anaphylaxis.Boots says the gummies will be orange in colour instead of being red.

The pack contains 30 gummies, has the batch code 82221103 and best before date of May 17, 2024.Children who are allergic to soya are advised not to eat these particular gummies, which retail at £5.Instead, you should return it to your nearest Boots for a full refund.

You won’t need a receipt to get your money back.If you have any questions, you can call the Boots Customer Care team on 0800 9150004.Boots said in a statement on the recall notice: “We are recalling Boots Kids Daily Health Multivitamins Strawberry Flavour 30 Gummies due to it containing soya which is not mentioned on the label.“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya.” For all product recalls, you can check the Food Standards Agency website which lists all the potentially dangerous items that have been removed.
