Two children have been hit by cars and one staff member was assaulted outside a school in recent months, leading authorities in Rochdale to take action.

The council is set to trial body-worn cameras for its school crossing patrols following the three separate incidents outside schools in the borough.

This trial aims to deter hostile and dangerous drivers as well as protect children and crossing patrol staff. The move comes after a four-year-old boy was clipped by a car which failed to stop at a crossing on Hartley Lane and Daventry Road on May 16.
