Body found in woods in search for Scots mum who vanished from psychiatric unit

A body has been found in a wooded area during searches for a missing mum who vanished from a psychiatric care unit in Ayrshire.

Anne MacDonald, 55, was last seen at from Woodland View Hospital in Irvine on Monday, June 3. A frantic search was launched and officers appealed for the help of the public in tracing Anne.

Sadly, officers have now confirmed that a body was found in woodland near the Eglington Interchange in the town at around 11am on Saturday.Formal identification has yet to take place, however Anne's heartbroken family have been informed.

There is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances relating to the death.
