Beloved pet dog rescued after it fell into a Scots quarry during a walk

A beloved pet dog was reunited with its worried family after being rescued from a quarry near Aberfoyle.Volunteers from Lomond Mountain Rescue Team (Lomond MRT) were called out at around 11.30am on Thursday, May 2, at Craigmore Hill above the village to reports that a small Border Terrier was stuck.The caller reported that her dog had fallen over the crag edge into the quarry below and, worryingly, the dog’s tracker device was showing no signs of movement.A spokesperson for Lomond MRT said: “Pleased to report that, whilst the team were rigging a rope system at the top of the crag in preparation to descend, a team member spotted a wagging tail on a rocky section below.“Two team members were tasked with approaching from below where they were met by ‘Wee Dug’ the Border Terrier with nothing worse than a sheepish look from the fall.”The dog’s concerned owner later paid tribute to the rescue team, saying: “A big shout of thanks to all at Lomond Mountain Rescue Team who rescued our wee dog Dobhran aka ‘Wee Dug’ from the quarry.“Also totally recommend Weenect tracker or would never have found him.” Click here for more news and sport from the Stirling area.

The rescue comes just weeks after a dog had to be pulled to safety after he chased his ball into a gorge in Alva.Hamish, the eight-year-old cockapoo, became stranded after he followed his favourite toy into fast-flowing water and became stuck.The incident happened as Hamish was enjoying a walk with his owner, Paul Bundy.
