BBC Strictly hit with accusations of 'ageism' as agent claims pros were 'arrogant'

Taking to Twitter (X) on Monday night, agent and publicist Melanie Blake accused the BBC series of previously harbouring a culture where the professional dancers "had free reign to do as they like".Melanie shared her belief that "ageism and ego were paramount" on the BBC set based on what she claims to have witnessed over the years when she was present for rehearsals and behind the scenes moments with clients.
The media professional also compared Strictly to rival series, ITV's Dancing On Ice and claimed she never had any complaints from stars taking part, despite the skating competition being "much more dangerous and also less high profile".
Melanie's post and allegations come during a tumultuous time for the long-running show, which is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary this year.
