BBC Radio 1 to chart the rise and fall of T in the Park in new podcast

Fans of the iconic T in the Park music festival will be able to take a trip down memory lane thanks to a new BBC podcast. Radio 1 DJ Arielle Free will take listeners from the beginnings of the iconic festival at Strathclyde Park, through its rapid growth and to its ultimate demise in The Rise and Fall of T in the Park podcast which launched on BBC Sounds yesterday (Monday, July 4).

The festival, which was a rite of passage for many Scottish teenagers, began back in 1994 at the Lanarkshire venue. It was staged in Strathclyde Park for three years, before moving to the disused Balado airfield in 1997 and then to Strathallan Castle in 2015 where the music played out in 2016 for the final time after 22 memorable years.
