The BBC has been in touch with the family of the person at the centre of allegations surrounding presenter Huw Edwards, according to Tim Davie.
The corporation's director spoke on Tuesday at a pre-arranged Lords Communications Committee session. He said: "We have been in touch with the complainant, we want to be engaged and in contact with them." It comes after the parents of the teenager claimed their complaint "was not acted upon." The presenter's wife Vicky Flind named the news reader as the person facing allegations over payments for sexually explicit images, following days of speculation.
She said her husband is receiving in-patient hospital care after “suffering from serious mental health issues”. The parents of the young person had originally complained to the BBC in May, but it was heard allegations were not put to the presenter or Tim Davie until seven weeks later. The BBC is carrying out "fact-finding investigations" into Edwards, as well as a review into their complaints procedure.
The Sun newspaper published the first claim last Friday that a then-unnamed BBC presenter paid a young person more than £35,000 for sexually explicit images.
