Fraser Bryden insists ruthless competition for places has laid the foundation for Ayr United's rapid start to the season.The Honest Men are flying and a five goal demolition of Airdrie last week has put the Championship on notice.
Bryden is among a clutch of stars hungry for their chance to impress boss Scott Brown with the boss facing selection headaches all over the park.But Bryden, a lifelong United fan who grew up as a supporter in the Somerset Road End, says togetherness amongst the squad is already proving a key aspect to their early success.
He told the Ayrshire Post: "The biggest difference this season is definitely the squad strength - everywhere you look in the team we're very competitive.
The gaffer has good choices to make and that's how it should be. "Everyone is bouncing off each other in the dressing room and it's a really close group both on and off the park.
