Ayr United new boy Roy Syla is determined to use Somerset Park as a platform to showcase his talents. The former Albanian under 21 international – who has three caps for his country – has signed a two-year deal to become Lee Bullen’s latest signing. And the defensive midfielder, who spent two years in Brentford’s ‘B’ setup, is raring to go.

He told the Ayrshire Post: “I had a great spell with Brentford - we won the Premier League Cup last year and it was the perfect learning experience for me as a young player. “Now it’s the chance for me to come and get regular first team games and show what I can do.

I see this as a platform for me. There are a lot of opportunities up here in Scotland to show everyone what you can do. A lot of boys have come up here and progressed, which made it an attractive option.“The manager has had great experiences in football himself and speaking to some of the Scottish staff at Brentford, they advised me to grab the chance up here with both hands.”Syla, 23, adds to fellow new boy Jack Young, has been brought in to bolster Ayr’s midfield area which is light on numbers after the injuries to Andy Murdoch and Ben Dempsey. He added: “I’m looking to come in and make an impact.

I like to get on the ball and build play for the team. I’m hoping this league will suit my style of play perfectly and I’m raring to get going.”Bullen said: "It's great to get both Roy and Jack in the door for an area of the team that we hadn't planned on having to strengthen this early in the season.
