Two men have been arrested after fleeing a 'stolen' Land Rover before hurling bricks at police officers. Greater Manchester Police spotted a Land Rover Discovery Sport in Tameside last night (February 20) which was believed to have been stolen in Bramhall days before.

Officers from GMP’s specialist Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit first noticed the car as it ran a red light on Shepley Road, in Ashton-under-Lyne, at around 10.45pm.

As the suspects fled the scene following a short pursuit, GMP says multiple objects and bricks were launched at the officers involved, causing serious damage to police vehicles.

An image shared by GMP shows an unmarked Volkswagen Golf with a smashed windscreen and damaged wheel arch following the incident.
