Joe Otterson TV Reporter Apple TV+ has given a series order to to “Widow’s Bay,” which hails from creator Katie Dippold. Hiro Murai is attached to direct the pilot of the 10-episode series in addition to executive producing.
The official logline states the show is “about a mysteriously cursed New England island and its superstitious citizens, led by a mayor who refuses to believe their warnings.” Dippold is the writer and executive producer of “Widow’s Bay” and will also serve as showrunner.
Murai executive produces along with Claudia Shin via Super Frog, with Carver Karaszewski also executive producing. Apple Studios will produce.
Dippold previously wrote for shows like “Parks and Recreation,” on which she was a writer for three seasons. She has since written the screenplays for films like “The Heat,” the 2016 “Ghostbusters” reboot,” and the 2023 “Haunted Mansion” film.
