Anne Reid blows Lorraine fans away when they find out her real age

ITV Lorraine viewers were blown away when they discovered what age legendary British actress Anne Reid is. The Sixth Commandment star appeared on Tuesday's instalment of Lorraine to talk about her new BBC true crime drama.

Anne plays retired headmistress Ann Moore-Martin in the show, which is written by Sarah Phelps and made in full cooperation with Peter Farquhar and Ann Moore-Martin’s families.Former Coronation Street actress Anne admitted she wasn't sure how she'd feel if she was in the shoes of the relatives of the victims of Ben Field, who killed his partner Peter and then moved on to his neighbour and convinced her he was in love with her despite a 50-year age gap.Anne said: "It must be weird, I don't know what I'd feel about having my relatives played by [actors].

But they seem desperate to want this story to be told."There was a documentary about it too but they want the story told too."Last Tango in Halifax star Anne revealed to Lorraine she's met with some of the family members, including Ann Moore-Martin's niece, Anne-Marie, who is played by Annabel Scholey in the BBC series, and Peter Farquhar's brother.But it was Anne's age that really got those watching from home talking as Lorraine promised not to reveal it.Lorraine, 63, said: "I've promised you I wouldn't say what your age is, I've promised you I'm not going to."Anne retorted: "I look at myself on-screen and think I look like a 200-year-old lizard."Lorraine replied: "No you don't, behave yourself!" But later Lorraine said: "I promised Anne I wouldn't say her age but if you play bingo, two fat ladies - that's all I'm saying, all I'm saying."Lorraine then read out a viewer's tweet, saying they had said: "I can't believe Anne is XXX old".
