Rugrats is being turned into a live-action movie.The animated series ran for nine seasons from 1991 to 2004, and also spawned three movies and a spin-off series called All Grown Up.Now, it has been confirmed according to Deadline, that Paramount is developing a movie which will see the film set in the real world while the characters Tommy Pickles and his pals Chuckie Finster and Phil and Lil DeVille will be animated.Jason Moore, whose credits include Pitch Perfect and the Tina Fey-Amy Poeheler comedy Sisters, will direct the live-action movie.
Moore recently directed Shotgun Wedding, a romcom starring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel and he is also set to helm film adaptations of Steven Rowley’s novel Guncle and Emma Straub’s book This Time Tomorrow.Saturday Night Live actor Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidell have penned the script.Rugrats premiered on Nickelodeon in 1991 and ran for several seasons and spawned a number of animated movies including 1998’s The Rugrats Movie, 2000’s Rugrats In Paris and 2003’s Rugrats Go Wild.A spin-off show All Grown Up also came from the animated series and Paramount+ launched a CGI reimagining in 2021 which featured all the original voice cast members – E.G.
