'13 Going On 30' is Getting a Musical Adaptation
justjared.comThe beloved 2004 comedy, 13 Going On 30, is being brought back to life in a new way! The film, which stars Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo, is set to get a musical adaptation written by the original writers of the movie, Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa.
13 Going On 30 The Musical has been in the works for years and will premiere next summer. Keep reading to find out more details… Although the cast has not yet been announced, Michael Weiner and Alan Zachary (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) are the composers, and Andy Fickman (Heathers the Musical) is the director.
The musical will be produced by theater company Royco (Police Cops The Musical). The writers are holding a two-week workshop at the Battersea Arts Centre in London October, and four performances (Oct.
25-28) will be open to the public. “When we poured our middle school pain into the movie 13 Going on 30, we never quite imagined it would stick around to this day as a rom-com parents show their kids, a Halloween costume, a scene in an Ariana Grande music video, and a teen sleepover staple,” Josh and Cathy shared. “Now we’re thrilled to be bringing our pain across the pond with ‘13 Going on 30 The Musical.’” They continued, “It’s been endlessly fun working with ROYO, Todd Garner, Revolution Studios, composer/lyricists Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, and director Andy Fickman to reinvent this story for the London stage.
