Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has aimed a dig at football's schedulers for allowing other games which clash with the Women's World Cup final to go ahead.
He tweeted his view before England kicked off against Spain in Australia at 11am UK time. Andy Burnham tweeted: "This should be the last time when other football takes place on the same day as the Women’s World Cup Final. "It is time for the whole footballing world to give the women’s and girls’ game the respect it deserves." Earlier, comedy writer Danny Baker was more forthright, tweeting: "I genuinely don't know how Norwich and Millwall can kick off tomorrow knowing the Women's World Cup Final is already underway.
