Andy Burnham vows to carry on fight to keep 1,000 train ticket offices open

Andy Burnham and four other Mayors across England have vowed to continue the fight to stop plans to close 1,000 train ticket offices.

In July the Greater Manchester Mayor said he was preparing to launch a legal action against the train operators' plans to try and halt the proposal.

He warned at the time: "If the Government and the rail industry get their way, it will erode what remains of public trust in travelling by train – and hasten Britain towards a faceless, soulless society."
