Heather Russell struck her victim with such force it caused her to lose consciousness for several minutes. The assault took place in Bury on October 23, 2019.

The victim had just left the Job Centre on Silver Street when she met 42-year-old Russell outside. A witness described seeing them argue before Russell hit her over the head with a bottle.

Minshull Street Crown Court heard how Russell, of Walmersley Road, Bury, struck the victim three or four times until she fell to the floor.
